I have modded quite a few games with my Fallout New Vegas being the most complicated, basically you need start a new game and make sure it works every so often.

I probably spent about 50 hours modding between my 2 different mod play throughs. I ran 174 mods the second time I modded Skyrim, but I started out with closer to 200 and had to prune some off as I learned they they would never work with another mod, that means I had about 25 incompatible mods, that just simply had to be tested to see if they would work.
If you just added 300 mods at once the chances of it working are almost zero. Sometimes I might add 30 mods or just 5 or even 1 depending on how likely I thought it would work. When you build up with a ton of mods you usually add more in batches and see if it crashes. That and of course being able to turn specific mods on or off at will and seeing if that breaks a dependency somewhere else. Tools like these can at least tell you if you're missing mods that require other mods to function, which can be one reason that you get a crash.
Of course you can't arbitrarily decide which mods to select as your subset as you can for example pick 10 to go in with first and find that one of them requires another mod that you haven't selected for that subset and you'll get a crash even though you technically have both and now your subset method is causing a crash.īesides this, I hope a mod management program like ModOrganizer is in those plans. And if you go in with 150 new mods, you won't have a clue which one is causing the issue as there's no good way of determining what specifically is causing a crash other than knowing what new mods you've turned on since the last time it worked properly and thus you're able to narrow the 150 down to a small subset.
